New Endeavors

I took a break from blogging to reflect on some business ideas I have had. I recently decided to venture into the craft market. I have always enjoyed arts and crafts growing up and now I am finally ready to make it more than just a hobby!

I jumped on the bandwagon and decided to purchase a Cricut machine. This machine really is revolutionizing the scrapbooking community! From making birthday cards to custom t-shirts, this machine can really do it all. Before this machine, I cut everything out by hand and used stencils. Now, with the help of this machine, I am able to do it all in seconds.

I will be launching a small business using this website and my Instagram to showcase some of my products! My goal is to create cards, banners, clothing and small prints, to cater to a wide array of folks. Please message me with any custom orders or inquiries.

I am looking forward to this new journey. Bare with me as I continue to learn and grow.

5 Years from Now

Ahh the infamous interview question: “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

I really struggle to answer this. Sure I can say something along the lines of “I would like to have more leadership responsibilities at my current employer” OR “Build a strong network in my field” OR “Have a positive influence in my community” and the list goes on… Don’t get me wrong, those are all things I hope to achieve in my career. But when I reflect, I mean REALLY reflect. Where do I see myself?

I couldn’t tell you. And this scares me. Of course I want to be successful, professionally AND personally. Who doesn’t? Having a stable career and a happy family are things everyone hopes to have in five years.

So many of us have goals and plans to achieve those goals, but life throws us curveballs and we must learn to navigate them. This is something I continue to struggle with. I’ve always been the kind of person who has a plan and without a plan, I stress out. I want to plan less and live in the moment. But that’s much easier said than done.

Five years sounds like a long time but in the blink of an eye it will all be over. I’m afraid that if I’m too consumed planning out my five year goals, I will forget to take moments to breath and enjoy that time. Sometimes having no plan is the best plan. I’m excited to see where life takes me without always stressing about what others may think or if what I’m doing fits the “norm”. I know that I will have many curveballs coming my way. But as Julian Pencilliah said “ When life throws you a curveball, be sure to hit the ground running”.

So come at me bro.

I know that in the end, life will have a funny way of working out.

Below, I wrote a short note to myself. I hope in five years, I am able to reflect back on this post and see how far I’ve come. I also hope this post makes sense to me and I don’t look back and think “Man was I crazy or what?!” :)

Dear IzzyBee,

If you are reading this in 2024 know that you are strong, you are worthy. You have come a long way. Your mental health and happiness should be your life priority. No matter where you are career wise, make sure to continue to enjoy the small moments with your family and friends. Continue cherishing your parents and taking pride in your past. Having no plan can be the best plan. And always remember this:

“They plan, and Allah (swt) plans. Surely, Allah is the Best of Planners.” -The Holy Quran 8:30

Everything will happen for a reason.

This post was different from my usual posts. I really reflected on my past experience to help shape my future self. If you’d like to see more content like this, comment below and let me know :)

That’s all for now!

Soaking up the Sun!

This past winter break, I was able to travel to Southern California!

California beaches are my favorite places to SEA ;). There is something about the calm ocean waves and rays of sunshine hitting your face that makes me never want to leave. I was really able to reflect on life and set some goals for this year. Since we visited in December, all the beaches were empty. Everything about a secluded beach is perfect. I am from the Midwest so having weather in the mid 60s with no humidity in December is my ideal temperature!

I made a short clip of my travels. Please be sure to view the video in HD/high res. I created it using iMovie and had some issues with resolution quality. If anyone knows of tricks to export please share them below! I would greatly appreciate it going forward.

I am extremely passionate about capturing memories. Creating travel videos and photo collages are some of my favorite pastimes. Going forward, I hope to be able to explore the world and capture it using my own lens.

As for California, I will definitely be back!
